Rick’s reputation for personal attention and master craftsmanship was built on an early career spent learning the business from the ground up. For some, that’s simply a cliché. For Rick, it’s literally how he learned the home building business.

His career started while still in high school, working for his father’s custom home building company, helping clean jobsites and lending a hand wherever needed. He saw the personal care and attention to detail his father displayed and it’s stuck with him ever since.

Rick quickly moved on to framing houses, leading his own crew and eventually becoming superintendent for his father’s company — management experience that he still uses today when he’s working with the variety of craftsmen and specialists it takes to bring life to each unique home.

After his early years in the family business, Rick moved on to commercial and residential remodeling work, learning about the details and finishing touches that make a home beautiful and livable at the same time. He also learned about customer service and the integrity of doing business the right way when he was performing warranty work for over a dozen custom home builders.

All of that led Rick to start his own company in 1986 with a philosophy of personal attention, obsessive attention to detail and a desire to build the most beautiful homes. Today, Hudnall Homes is an honored and recognized custom home builder in the Pikes Peak Region, frequently featured in the annual Parade of Homes, winning numerous design awards and public praise.
